Phoenix things to do: July 31-August 2
FRIDAY
Bare: A Musical @ Playhouse on the Park
Honestly, what got me to click on the story about Bare was it’s comparison to High School Musical. This high school musical, however, talks about sexual identity, social acceptance, religion and drugs. I don’t recall Zac Efron’s singing songs about any of those topics.

Queen Celine & Funkfinger @ Sidebar
Okay, my friend and husband are DJing the night, so I might be biased, but if you like “pop novelty” and drinks in a sleek, if somewhat Ikea-esque, setting…then head to this upstairs bar….and wish Celine a Happy Birthday while you’re at it.

SUNDAY
Put Dexter on your Netflix queue
It’s not available until 8/18, but no use waiting until the last minute to get your creepy fix with the 3rd season of the homicidal series.
Why I’m frightened of guns
What’s Cracking Good — Exercise in moderation
Usually when I visit Jaimee Rose’s blog, I find amazing parties & food presentation, dreamy vacation photos, cool and stylish things going on around town, and the best in black & white.
Today, however, I found something very frightening: A photo of Madonna and her arms.
Did you feel a shiver go up your spine?
The Vig to open in the hood
What’s Cracking Good — My neighborhood improving
Truth be told, I’m not all that happy about the idea of a power lifting gym going in at a main intersection near my house.
However, word in the blogosphere is a second location of The Vig is also opening around the corner at 16th Street, just north of Bethany Home.
Seeing that one of my current beefs with The Vig includes valet parking, the fact that this one is in stumbling distance from my house makes it significantly more attractive.
If they put in enough beer and burger joints, perhaps I might welcome a lifting gym? Maybe.
Back-to-school shopping
I remember when back-to-school shopping meant jeans with a lipstick patch on the pocket and polo shirts.
This year, I’m teaching a class (Jesus!), so my back to school ensembles should be a little more…professional.
What I’m wanting: Emma Watson’s look from the July issue of Teen Vogue. Though I’ll probably go sans stole.
I’ve been looking to eBay and Etsy for the look for less. Shop red blazers on eBay and chain necklaces on Etsy.
