Good Egg Award: Best Japanese Market
Best Japanese Market: Fujiya Market

Sure Ranch and Lee Lee’s are amazing Asian Food markets. There’s no disputing that.
But your best bet for a Japanese convenience store experience, try Fujiya Market.
Find boxed curries, candy and a fish cakes in all shapes and sizes. A limited selection of produce (daikon radishes and other strange-looking roots), and usually an assortment of bento boxes and donburi bowls (rice bowl). On the occasional Saturday, they’ll make takoyaki (octopus balls) fresh in store.
For all those Japanophiles, there are Japanese TV shows and videos for rent to brush up on language skills.

Have you ever done Best Sushi of Phoenix? Because I’ve tried many places and can’t make up my mind! I would love to know your opinion.

I think my favorite for straight out sushi is Hana — especially if you sit at the bar and ask the chef to just give you what’s fresh. I’m not sure if they’ll do it when it’s busy — but I’ve been on slower nights and have had pretty good luck.
I have many friends who love Yasu’s, but I really haven’t been enough to say for sure.
Strangely though, one of my favorite places for spicy tuna rolls is La Grande Orange — something about the tuna/sauce ratio really works for me.
Any other suggestions?
